Wang Qian - A Pinioned Swan

So gorgeous she floating,
in the golden shine,
Fair as an angel,
On the shimmering waters
flown by time.

The mazes of little trees
With dim shadows,
Which deep into it,
The swan feared to explore,
Myriad darkness,
Countless blindness.

Lighthearted and gay,
She splashed around the water,
And rose to sky,
Wide and blue above,
She reached so high.

Curved her gentle neck,
Thinking
Without noticing the attack,
She was caught
Once she came back.

Crazily
How she struggled,
Her screaming weakened,
She was fastened,
Her soul been pinioned.

Out of balance,
Out of mind,
She dropped from heaven,
Living with a ban.
