Where have all the old folks gone,
I don't see them anymore
Their either tending to their gardens
Or painting their front door
Gone are their books because now they've found
Laptops and computers,
And instead of the old walking stick
They use their mobile scooters.
Like stirling moss they rush around
I just don't understand,
Because years ago the old were old
Needing a helping hand.
They seem to be much younger,
They've held on to their youth.
Gone are the days when they smiled
You'd see one old decaying tooth.
They turn up in their trainers
And in marathons take part.
Years ago this would have stopped
An old persons heart.
They rush about, and even dance
Or sing a merry tune.
It's as though they are reliving
That film they call cocoon.
They make me feel so tired
Going through life so strong and bold,
But i think my real reason for this
Is that i feel so old.
So good luck to the old folk
I really admire them,
And i just can't wait to reach their age
So i'll feel young again.
