She looked over her shoulder
And her soul was emblazoned in fear at what she saw,
For the world, it seemed, had crept up on her.
With its rushing and its pressure,
Its coming and its going,
Its highlights and its dark places.
She was afraid, because she was just one light
In a world of a million.
She was not ready for the world,
But she found a smile when she looked upon it
And saw, with relief, that neither was anybody else.
And with the entire world in front of her,
She set her feet surely and allowed herself to say
what confidence her soul had gathered
'I long to be there, too '
