My life is like a book of poetry
about things that I've been through.
Written in simplicity
with just my point of view.
May be about a lonely man
with his heart broken right in two,
or, Might be a simple love poem,
with a simple, 'I Love you'
I've walked those streets of loneliness
and was surprised at what I've seen.
A poor old man with a pen at hand,
he sure looked a lot like me.
On his pad he wrote a few lines
which he would not let me see
I asked him, 'What is this man?
' He answered, ' It's only poetry.'
He turned his head to me and said,
We must live life for each moment
take in all we can.
Hang on to those who care for us
it all goes hand in hand.
Don't never lose your faith my friend
for it's a part of a greater plan.
I hope someday to be recognized
for what I have achieved
I may end up on a bookshelf
just from writing what I believed.
Living life to it's fullest
touching hearts along the way
and maybe leave behind a legacy
with the friends I have today.
