As I look into your hazel eyes
I remember each and every time I've said goodbye
Said goodbye without telling you what I want to say
Said goodbye without telling you what I am today
I know how it feels when someone breaks your heart
Reality hits and your life is torn apart
The perfect relationship that you thought you had
The person you thought would get you through the bad
Was slowly fading away piece by piece
Until everything you worked for suddenly ceased
After the tears have dried you're left all alone
To pick up the pieces of a life that once shone
I've been through this before and you have too
So you know everything I'm saying today is true
Don't ever love again is what my heart told me to do
But my heart didn't account for the fact that I'd find you
You stole my heart like a thief in the night
And I let you in and didn't put up a fight
I need you to get me to where I need to be
I need it to be just you and me
Because poem after poem I write as a relief
From all the feelings I have of disbelief
Disbelief of ever being happy
Disbelief of not feeling sappy
Time after time we wait so long
Before realizing who was there all along
The opportunity to change things is now gone
But with you I hope to start a new dawn
A dawn with you by my side
A person in which I can confide
A hundred percent I'm ready to put in
Even though loving you seems like a sin
Everything about you seems too good to be true
Making me think I'll never be with you
But I can't let you go and have my love die
So to be with you I have to try
