"It's a traditional way of doing these things and something I would've done probably if I wasn't in this odd position of being famous for work," Benedict said in Manhattan Sunday night when he walked the red carpet for a special screening of his new animated film "Penguins of Madagascar."
He says, "If I was living a life in obscurity I'd be equally happy to announce my marriage to the most incredible woman I've ever met. So, I'm a lucky man and it was controlling it and saying this is happening and letting the world know but in quiet and sort of sober and traditional manner."
And he says, almost as good as the engagement, is the reaction to the news. "It's a crazy old love bomb to drop and the amount of love that comes back to you, that was the thing that we're both just sort of bowled over by. It's wonderful."
