Sharpton: America must deal with these problems

Civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton said on Wednesday the country must remember this Thanksgiving that the families of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and Akai Kareem Gurley will all be having their holidays meals with one empty seat at the table.

"Let me say tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day, and on this Thanksgiving Eve, this is a very painful time for these families," Sharpton said at a news conference at the National Action Network offices in Harlem alongside the families. "Not only do they share the pain of being victims of police conduct but this will be their first Thanksgiving with an empty seat at the table."

Brown was shot dead in Ferguson, Missouri in August by a police officer. Garner died in July after being placed in a banned choke hold by a New York City police officer. Gurley was shot this month by a New York City police officer.

Sharpton called on America to solve the problems related to these incidents.
