Gather around, everyone, it's story time!
Last October, I was running errands with my roommate, RainbowDoubleDash. I got to talking about how it was going to be Twilight's turn to star in my videos and I was planning on doing Beauty and the Beast, The Enchanted Christmas, but that I felt a little uneasy about starting it. After a little bit, I admitted it was because I didn't know what I was thinking when I cast Fluttershy as the beast.
RainbowDoubleDash nodded. "Yeah, that never made a whole lot of sense to me."
"I guess I chose her because it was funny." I said. "I didn't always put as much thought into it as I do now. I don't like it, but I think I have to recast that role"
"So who should the Beast be? Discord?" RDD asked.
I shook my head. "People would think so, but he doesn't fit the role at all. Discord LIKES what he is and what he does. The main thing about Beast is that he despises being a monster and is sad about his fate. Discord, even after his epiphany at the end of season 4, never regrets being a Draconequus and a bringer of chaos.
"No, what I need is some pony who's actually repentant. A pony who has been transformed into something else, who acts all mean and scary at first, but who we later learn is actually nice, a pony others hate because they see her as a monster, and who's actually sorry for acting like that towards the end..."
It was at this point that I fell silent and turned to find RDD staring at me with one eyebrow raised and trying to suppress laughter. I put a hand to my forehead. "I'm describing Sunset Shimmer, aren't I?"
And that is the story of why I had to wait until I had a copy of Rainbow Rocks to start The Enchanted Christmas. I've run into some casting issues with The Muppet Movie, so instead I'm starting this delayed project for the next set. And don't worry, this is the only cast change and I won't be going back and redoing the first movie.
I do not own My Little Pony or Disney, but I do own a massive number of pmvs at this point. Seriously, all my videos back to back are longer than whole seasons of the show! How crazy is that!!!!!!
