Although technical difficulties have prevented official numbers from being tallied, Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) candidate, Nayib Bukele, has proclaimed himself the new mayor of San Salvador based on exit polls that put him 7,000 votes ahead of the right-wing ARENA standard bearer Edwin Zamora. Although Zamora did not agree with the margin of victory, he did graciously concede victory to his opponent. The left-wing FMLN is expected to win a majority of the country's municipalities. teleSUR
