Caroline Wazer is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History at Columbia University. Her dissertation focuses on the concept of public health in imperial Rome, from religious ritual to sewer maintenance. She also writes about the use of ancient Rome as an aspirational model for urban life in the Victorian world.
