Mystery surrounds the wiring of a Massachusetts home with a deadly device that would detonate at the flip of a certain light switch.
An electrician found the sinister set-up while checking over the Milton property that had been recently been put up for sale at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Boston Globe.
A plastic jug filled with accelerant had been connected to a specific switch in the closet of an upstairs bedroom. It was then plastered into the wall.
Anyone who had flicked that button would have sent the house up in flames.
Cops were called and the bomb squad was scrambled to safely deactivate the mechanism. No-one was injured,
Milton Police Chief Richard Wells said the homemade bomb was rigged to first set the home's roof rafters on fire.
Homeowner Lindel Williams said he was "stunned" by the discovery.
He revealed that the former tenants, who had lived there since June 2014, moved out last Sunday,
And he added that they'd reported, just one day before they moved out, that someone had poured concrete into the property's plumbing system.
Wells said investigators were looking at "several persons of interest." People who had access to the home were of particular focus, he added.
