Industry Minister James Moore and Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Jeremy Hansen visited students at Elgin Street Public School to talk about Canada's role in the James Webb Space Telescope, the most powerful space telescope ever built. Thousands of astronomers around the world, including leading Canadian scientists, will use the Webb Telescope to observe the most distant objects in the universe, provide images of the very first galaxies ever formed and study planets around distant stars. The Webb telescope is a joint project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.
During their visit, Minister Moore and Jeremy Hansen interacted with students, and encouraged them to consider a career in science and technology—and perhaps even become one of the Canadian astronomers who will one day make amazing discoveries using the Webb's images.
