The 36th round of Colombia's peace talks are set to start in Havana, Cuba. Discussions will center on the removal of landmines and other explosive devices. The military and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) had previously agreed on joint operations to clear the countryside of landmines and peace advocates are pressing for additional measures to deescalate the conflict as well as calling on the government to accept the rebel proposal for a bilateral ceasefire.
