A 7.9 Richter Scale earthquake ripped through the heart of the Himalayan nation on April 25, and has killed nearly 8,000 people while another over 16,000 have been injured. Fresh tremors are jolting Nepal triggering panic among the people already battered by the devastating earthquake. The earthquake also triggered some 150 aftershocks of varying intensity, which caused further landslides. Sindhupalchowk is the worst-hit district with nearly 3,000 people dead while 1,209 have been killed in Kathmandu. The Indian Government had pressed a total of 16 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, with 45 members in each, to undertake humanitarian aid, relief and rescue operations.
