52-year-old Edward Miller and his 25-year-old son Edward Jr., had been trying to get their truck off the impound lot the previous day but didn’t have enough money. The clerk was spooked because Miller Senior was yelling at her while wearing a gun.
The next day, the pair went in to retrieve their vehicle, this time bringing the correct amount of cash.
At some point, Deputy Joel Hernandez, who was there for an entirely different matter, heard what he thought was a loud shouting match and rushed over. Even though the younger Miller tried to explain, somehow Deputy Hernandez shot Miller anyway.
