A North Allegheny High School female rowing coach has been charged with sexual assault for having a relationship with a student.
Authorities say 31-year-old Megan Batykefer admitted to having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student on the rowing team. Batykefer is the head coach of the boy’s crew team.
Batykefer said she began receiving text messages in the spring from the student who said he had feelings for her.
After he turned 18 in April, but before he graduated in June, she started sleeping with him.
Batykefer told authorities that the two had sex about a dozen times at her home in Coraopolis.
Batykefer has been charged with one count of sexual assault and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Oct. 28.
