A man has been cautioned by Birmingham police after a viral video of him attacking a street performer dressed as The Predator caused outrage after it was posted online.

The clip, taken with a cell phone, showed the man smiling at the camera as he walks toward a street performer before violently pushing him off his pedestal.

The performer was thrown forward several feet, almost catching a small girl with his prop spiked axe.

The clip shows onlookers scream in shock as the perpetrator runs off while laughing at the camera.

The incident occurred outside the city's Bullring shopping centre in New Street on Sunday.

The clip was posted to a Facebook account shortly afterwards, leading to a public outcry and police to launch a hunt for the offender.

Following the outcry a 20-year-old man from Small Heath, Birmingham handed himself in to police on Tuesday and was given a caution which police say will remain on his record, according to West Midlands Police.

Police spoke to all those involved in the incident and said that neither victim wanted to make an official complaint.
