As many as 24,000 cases of the debilitating disease dengue have been reported in Peru thus far in 2015, and 26 deaths have been reported, says the country’s Health Ministry. The dengue virus is transmitted by a certain mosquito that breeds in stagnant water in tropical climates. Officials are urging residents to exercise their social responsibility and dispose of pools of stagnant water where mosquitos could lay their eggs in order to help control the outbreak. teleSUR
