Indigenous groups and other rural residents in Colombia are backing the demand of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) for President Juan Manuel Santo to declare a bilateral ceasefire and put an end to the war. While peace groups are pressuring Colombia’s new Minister of Defense, Juan Carlos Villegas to adopt such a policy, Santos has instructed Villegas to reject a bilateral ceasefire until a final agreement is reached.
