EU leaders have vowed to destroy trafficking vessels before they're used to carry illegal immigrants across the Mediterranean to Europe. Funding for search-and rescue operations will be tripled to 120 million euros. So far though, the EU has stopped short of military action saying it wants a UN resolution first.
