June 12, 2013: PKR Vice-President and its MP for Padang Serai, N Surendran reiterates the opposition's call for the setting up of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) in light of the recent spate of deaths in police custody.
Today was the funeral of C Sugumar, a security guard that was handcuffed and beaten to death allegedly by police on January 21 this year. No one has been charged for his death.
His body had been lying in the mortuary as the family were attempting to apply for an independent autopsy to determine cause of death. Their attempts were unsuccessful.
