Ping was one of my favorite former students to spar with. He was strong, fast, and humble. He had great emotional control and control over his techniques. He was not out to hurt but he was there to learn to improve. He had natural skill and ability. He was able to Bench Press 225 lbs for multiple reps. He was able to do over 20 pull ups with no problem. His legs were very strong and he could jump very high. Athletically he was definitely above average. Spiritually, he was grounded, he was humble, he wasn’t out to prove anything, I was very comfortable sparring with him. He would spar very tactically like a Martial Artist, he would take his time and be patient, he wouldn’t just bum rush you and try to kill you.

We only had a few sparring opportunities and we made a good amount of contact on one of those sparring sessions, that is one of my favorite sparring videos, because it was clean, it was serious but not too serious, we were both under control, neither of us fighting out of emotion. We had a good chemistry in sparring. When I would make contact with him, it wouldn’t really hurt him too much, he would be able to keep on going. Not many people I would meet would have these qualities, we could have made some very great advanced sparring demonstrations if he would have stayed but unfortunately he disappeared.
