Throughout the summer of 2015 I took videos of several lightning bugs that I had found motionless around my home. All video had to be shot in a completely dark environment. The lightning bugs/fireflies would not produce light in a well lit room. This made capturing the video quite difficult. The microscope had to be constantly adjusted in order to keep focus. As you can see in the video the images became blurry at times. That is because the lightning bugs were not restrained in any way. They were free to move as they pleased. These lightning bugs were at the end of there lives, which is why the light was dim enough to view under the microscope and why they didn't just fly away. They were not harmed in any way and were left untouched until their death, which took around 24 hours after filming.
