UN to Open Human Rights Office in Honduras

2015-09-28 3 Dailymotion

The UN will open a human rights office in Honduras later this year, President Juan Orlando Hernandez told the Sustainable Development Summit. Human rights violations in the Central American country have mushroomed since democratically elected president Manuel Zelaya was overthrown by a coup in 2009. Hernandez said the UN office will monitor human rights violations by the military in its anti-drug operations. Critics charge that the militarization of the country has triggered human rights violations. teleSUR
