Working conditions are a major issue for candidates in Argentina’s upcoming elections. Improvements made during the Cristina Fernandez presidency have garnered the support of the country’s largest labor unions for the Front for Victory party. The unions oppose measures that the economic establishment says are inevitable, such as fiscal adjustments and currency devaluation. Higher rates of profit for corporations and a reduction in workers’ purchasing power due to the adoption of such practices would be inexcusable, they say, as they push instead for the continued transformation of the country.
