According to the dictionary syncretism is defined as: the amalgamation or attempted amalgamation of different religions, cultures, or schools of thought. It is no secret that holidays like Christmas and Easter are an prime example as they were originally pagan holidays that were later Christianized by the Catholic Church. This week I will discuss everything from the Gregorian calendar the fact our months and days of the week are named after deities and the origins of most of the holidays celebrated in the West.
Forgive my pronunciation on some of the words.
