Argentina: Cultural Center Raided and Members Tortured

2015-12-19 5 Dailymotion

Members of Argentina’s cultural movement are in a state of alert following the rise to power of President Mauricio Macri. During his eight years at the helm of the Buenos Aires city government, he persecuted the city’s independent artists and the cultural centers where they performed, such as the Teresa Isabel Cultural Center. Performers say they are worried about being shut down because they are critical of Macri’s policies through their art and place community well-being over profits. Shortly after his victory, the Cultural Battle Center was shut down and many of its members tortured and arrested. Leo Poblete reports from Buenos Aires for teleSUR
