After making its debut in 1934 at the height of the moppet's movie star popularity, the doll was reintroduced in 1958 when NBC began telecasting SHIRLEY TEMPLE'S STORYBOOK (1958-61), an hour-long series of children's fairy tales hosted by Temple.
