KYBURZ, CALIFORNIA — Explosive footage of a California Department of Transportation road crew blowing a 20-ton boulder up with dynamite has been published online.
Traffic chaos ensued in the westbound lane of Highway 50 near Kyburz, California on Jan. 13 when the 20-ton boulder rolled off the hillside and onto the road, KCRA reported.
And when attempts to drill holes in the rock failed, there was only one thing for it: dynamite — three pounds of the stuff, to be precise.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at least one vehicle was damaged by the boulder, but there were no injuries, KCRA reported.
