Allentown, PA - Allentown officials have settled a federal lawsuit with the family of a teenager who they say was shocked with a Taser for no reason.
Victoria Geist filed the suit more than five years ago on behalf of her then 14-year-old daughter. In September 2011, the teenager was leaving Dieruff High School with two friends when an Allentown police officer used his Taser on the girl.
Attorney Richard Orloski filed an excessive force lawsuit on behalf of Geist against the city and Officer Jason Ammary. The suit also challenged the training of city police officers.Attorneys released a video of the confrontation, but it did not show what prompted the incident.
Orloski said Friday that the city and Geist settled the lawsuit in December for $100,000.
