As Sage Parasuram uses a weapon, presented by Lord Shiva, to attack Bal Ganesh, he does not retaliate. Instead he takes it on his teeth just to show respect to the weapon as it was gifted by his Godly father. Later, when Sage Parasuram realises that he has made a mistake, he blesses Bal Ganesh and gives him a new name ‘Ekdant’.
Starts the story of how Bal Ganesh gets Kaveri river to flow through South India. A demon called Surkhdaman misuses his powers that are granted by Lord Shiva. He attacks all the Gods of Devalok and imprisons them. However, Indradev flees and hides in South India. Surkhdaman threatens Varundev to block any kind of air movement in South India. As a result, South India faces a dire drought and all plants and animals die.
Seeing this bad condition, Sage Agasthya started praying to Lord Shiva to bring back greener and water to the land. Playfully Bal Ganesh decides to help the Sage.
