Firearm technology has improved greatly in the last century. It took multiple centuries to go from a single-shot musket with limited range to a repeating rifle accurate out to a quarter of a mile, but it has taken only a century to go from that repeating rifle to fully automatic weapons accurate out to as far as two miles.
