Nepal, July 04 (ANI): The first meeting of the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) of Nepal and India began in Kathmandu on Monday. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Nepal, Kamal Thapa, inaugurated the meeting, which will end on Tuesday. This group has been established with the aim of strengthening ties between the two countries. The EPG has reportedly been given two years to come up with a conclusive report on any updation in any agreement that needs to be made to improve relations. It will hold meetings every three months to discuss progress and plans. Dr. Bhekh Bahadur Thapa, Nilambar Acharya, Suryanath Upadhyay and Dr. Rajan Bhattarai are the well known personalities representing the Nepal side. The Indian side comprises politician Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, former Indian ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad, Professor Mahendra P. Lama and Professor B.C. Upreti. Formation of the EPG to boost relations was decided during the third Indo-Nepal Joint Commission meeting in July 2014. It was finally formed when both countries announced the names of their members early 2016.
