Tom Hayden, a radical civil rights leader and antiwar activist, passed away at 76 Sunday. His wife Barbara told the Associated Press had been suffering from heart problems. Hayden became famous for his antiwar efforts, most notably his controversial trips to Vietnam in which he helped bring prisoners of war home. He was also known for organizing demonstrations at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Hayden was married to actress Jane Fonda, whom he met through their shared anti-war activism, for 17 years and also served on the California state Legislature for 18 years.
