"The Tin Drum" by Gunter Grass was originally published as "Die Blechtrommel" in German language. It happens to be the author's first book in "Danzig Trilogy.
The novel was made into a movie in 1979. It was a highly successful movie, winning both the Palme d'Or in 1979 and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1980.
