"La Storia" by Elsa Morante was first published in Italian in 1974. It is generally said to be the author's most famous but controversial work.
The story revolves around Ida Ramundo, a partly Jewish woman, and her two sons Antonio and Giuseppe in Rome during and right after the Second World War.
