The view of the Karakorum Range from the top of the 4,785 meterpass is legendary. Apart from fairies, this plateau is the habitat of the greatly threatened Himalayan Brown Bear and many other wild animals.

Although few people will see a bear, quite a few are said to make their homes in the heart of the plateau. At an average elevation of 3,500 meter, Deosai officially is a National Park and protected area for wildlife.
The Deosai National Park is located between Astore and Skardu, PoK. 'Deosai' (Urdu: دیوسای٘) means 'the land of Giants' in Urdu. Balti people call this place as 'Ghbiarsa' (غبیارسہ) referring to 'Summer's Place' because it is only accessible in summer. he collapsed old bridge provided the first taste of the exciting challenge on the trip. The only alternate was to cross the stream along a narrow reach where the makeshift path on reposing face of the muddy formation of the mountain was continuously dissolving and sliding.
