The U.S. military released color video on Thursday (April 13) taken from a 2003 test drop of the 'mother of all bombs' which was later used in Afghanistan on ISIS targets, in one of the largest non-nuclear devices ever unleashed in combat.

The test drop video shows the massive bomb being released from an airplane over Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and striking an open area, causing a large explosion and billowing smoke.

The 21,600-pound (9,797-kg) GBU-43 bomb, was dropped from an MC-130 aircraft in the Achin district of the eastern province of Nangarhar bordering Pakistan on Friday (April 4) against a network of tunnels that Afghan and U.S. officials said was being used by militants linked to Islamic State.
