Heavy fog enveloped Erbil, the capital city of the Iraqi Kurdish region near Mosul. Continuous rain in recent days has flooded roads.
Visibility is low also because of the oil wells, set alight by IS when it retreated from the town in August. Fire that had been burning for months produced heavy black smoke that continued to engulf the town.
