German Chancellor Angela Merkel was due to give a press statement after arriving for the 29th German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Convention, in Essen, Monday, when suddenly something distracted her.

The suspicious Chancellor enquired what the device standing on her left side was, asking the journalists surrounding her. One of them told her “It's a 360 degree camera” to which Merkel replied “And what does it do? Does it rotate? And is it a good idea that it stands sideways? Who does the 360 degree camera belong to?” She was told the camera was property of the CDU, after which the journalists erupted with laughter.

During the CDU convention, over 1,000 national delegates will be asked to confirm Merkel as party head for the upcoming 2017 German federal election.
