A little rant video I made about the shitty infrastructure and other problems associated with living in a small town. I hear people talk about wanting to move to a small town to get away from it all at times and usually these people are clueless about the issues you run into when living in a small town.
Most of these people don't know what it's like to live out in the boonies in a small town having to commute an hour just to go shopping. You want to go out and buy the latest Xbox game that just came out? Well you'll have an hour drive to and from plus time in the store buying it so your looking at approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes spent just getting the game and getting back to your place in a small town.
If you live in a small town close to a small city your a lot better off. Of course if the town is in the rust belt and has been declining in population for decades you can look forward to having to deal with shitty infrastructure and with the boro and township being unable to afford to fix the infrastructure through taxes they raise. So usually they run to the state and/or federal government for money. Problem is if they get state and/or federal money they tend to blow it on dumbshit like town fairs and parades and other stupid shit.
Then there is the extreme amount of nepotism in small towns. Your not going to get anything close to meritocracy in a small town. Almost everyone in charge of something is related to everyone else. That leads to lots of bullshit as well.
Don't get me wrong living in a small town beats getting raped by the cost of living in major city like Los Angeles or NYC. Still small towns definitely have their own problems and shouldn't be viewed through rose tinted glasses like a lot of people seem to view them still.
