The death rate from all causes decreased 25% for African Americans 18 years of age and older between 1999 and 2015. The overall decline in death rate was mirrored by declines in almost every category. Deaths from cardiovascular disease decreased by 38.7% along with deaths from cancer (28.7%), stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases (37.9%), diabetes (25.6%) and HIV (66.8%). These are very good numbers.
