shazap.com I’ve got to say that I was really surprised with this book. After flipping through it I almost put it back but I figured I’d give it a chance because it was a light week and it was a number one but it ended up being really good. It might even be my favorite book of the week. First off it is from indi label Boom! Studios, a fairly new label but with a good number of titles out all in the early stages, you can check them out at boom (dash) studios (dot) net. The art in style was good, but it lacked a bit in the connection of the action between panels and felt like a new artist. I looked up Sergio carrera and all I could find was some cover art on the image mini series “after the cape” which explains why the images were strong but the sequencing of the action felt a bit disconnected. That being said it was still good and definitely did not take away from the story but there is definitely some room for growth. The story was great, no surprise, as it is scribed by critically acclaimed mystery novelist Gary Phillips. We’ve got a man thrust into a position where he must take his life into his own hands and there will be a lot of blood shed as he takes control of his destiny. This is a great indi title and definitely gets my pick of the week.
