PRESENTED BY LEANNE STOTT

"It's so refreshing to hear country that dosen't suck up to alternative or linedance-like genres. It's almost mountains songs Heidi Mattsson sings and it is impossible to hear if it's new or old... A well succeded voice which avoids all the clichées and provides us with little stories and faiths you want to belive in. Changing between fragile, strong and hopefull but all the time believable. Heidi wins with her truth, without tricks or "bling". (Gaffa ****)

"Mama's Sadness sounds both organic and well-planned." (Lydtapet ****)

"'Mama's Sadness' is the wonderful Americana folk debut album from Danish singer-songwriter Heidi Mattsson. She's such a great talent and this album is one of the best I've heard this year." (2 U I BESTOW - Irish blogger."

"A floating vocal supported by a guitar and not much more. You'll find the country-like tendencies on several songs among others on the intro for "You're my reason to Lie - but not the thick country cliche we all connect to linedance and banjo but a more refined version where the focus is on the vocal and guitar-finger-play."

Captivating voice and a warm, personal country-universe and off course "Return" is a fantastic song." Danish artist Lise Westzynthius

Heidi Mattsson released an EP as frontsinger in the danish band Songs for Iris in January 2011 and released her long-awaitet soloalbum "Mama's Sadness" in February 2013. The title of the album has also been the name of the project which was signyfied by a steady handful of musicians who are now recording artists on the album.
The ten songs on the album contributes to the melancolic and dusty atmosphere Heidi Mattsson is surrounded by. They tell stories about the everlasting struggles between he and she. The musical style can be placed somewhere in between scandinavian folk / alternative country /americana with a lyrical universe which celebrates the traditional "sad story" of country music and references to cowboymythology. You can also trace an irish inspiration which stems from touring and travelling in Ireland the last five years. Heidi Mattsson has mostly played on upcoming scenes in Dublin and in small pubs on the countryside but is also on an irish poetry album by Brendan Hickey with the song "Kathleen".
In 2011 Heidi Mattsson went on a promotion tour to USA. Other than playing concerts in Austin and New York, she made the music video "Sinnerman" with Mifune Film (Danish movie company) and wrote some new songs with texan songwriters Dave Madden and Jesse Podunk. Now she is back to write songs for a forthcoming album with Songs for Iris.
