Julius Schwartz is known as a longtime editor as D.C. Comics from the Golden Age through the Bronze Age, however he had a huge co-creator role in the formation of what we know is the DC Universe. This first in a two part series explores his early days as a fan of Science Fiction Pulp Magazine, Amazing Stories, to his time as editor of All-American Comics and then DC Comics, bringing his pulp Sci-Fi perspective to the book's he oversaw, and co-created. Most importantly, we discuss how his love for Pulp Sci-Fi proved to be his and DC Comics salvation, which essentially carried the comic book industry through the era of the comics code by merging the sci-fi genre with Superhero's creating the Silver Age of Comic Books. He utilized science fiction influence from his younger days reading Hugo Gernsback's Science Fiction Magazine, Amazing Stories and reinvigorated Golden Age heroes into new Silver Age counterparts, this episode leads up to Flash and Green Lantern.
