U.S. National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster said on Saturday that public reports showed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons. He added that it was time for the international community to hold the government accountable. Earlier this month, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the Syrian government had repeatedly used chlorine gas. However, he stressed that the U.S. did not have evidence of sarin gas use.
