A record amount of people are running in the upcoming elections for the U.S. House and Senate this year.
It is the most declared candidacies since the Federal Election Commission began keeping records in 1977.
Most of these 2,000 filings are for Democratic offices.
A big reason for these numbers is in the strong opposition to Donald Trump since the 2016 election.
Republicans experienced something similar after Barack Obama's first election win during the 2010 midterms.
