The filmer writes: ''Gertrude wanted a little extra attention and I could tell that spending time with her and feeding her would be just the thing she needed.
''I remembered I had steamed some butternut squash for dinner the night before so I ran to the fridge and grabbed the container of squash, grabbed a spoon and sat back down with Gertrude.
''She immediately knew what to do and took one bite at a time and she loved it.''
