A recently discovered Stonehenge-style landmark made from wood could have been used as an ancient crematorium, experts have said. The 4,000 year old circular 'woodhenge' was found by archaeologists in the heart of Yorkshire three months ago. Experts now say the site at Little Catwick Quarry near Hornsea, E. Yorks., may have been used for ritual cremation ceremonies by Bronze age tribes. Researchers found thousands of scorched stones after hand-sieved 95 tonnes of earth from the surrounding ditches.
