This decision essentially came down to what would we regret less. Continue sailing a boat we loved but did not need from a size or power perspective. Or go all-in on our dreams of living a sustainable, minimalist life while continuing to sail the world. Sure, our path is unconventional (meaning we downsized instead of upsized) but we aren’t the first sailors who felt smaller & simpler was better or that there is no need for a diesel engine with today’s technological advancements in electric engines & battery capacity.
This is our dream and we plan on sharing it in the most straightforward and honest way possible - like we said from the get-go. As we found out from a lot of Episode 30’s comments, some of YouTube’s ‘sailors’ don’t seem to agree with our minimalist, no-rush, nature-first approach to sailing. That’s fine, but we refuse to let these types of people derail our dreams. We’ve found from our own hands-on experience that this is what sailing is all about to us. This is us simply following our hearts.
